Do you love puzzles? Are you someone who likes to solve problems and put out "fires"? If so, please keep reading! Avid4 Adventure is hiring an Operations Specialist for the Bay Area to serve all of Avid4's California camp operations. This position is a full-time, summer seasonal job. 


The position is responsible for the ongoing management and maintenance of equipment. During the summer camp season, the California Operations Specialist will support camp directors with their equipment needs at our 5 Bay Area locations.

The ideal candidate is incredibly flexible, self-directed, organized and possesses great problem-solving skills. The Operations Specialist will work closely with the Operations Supervisor to solve a wide variety of problems as well as aiding in delivering the highest quality of program possible. This position will wear a multitude of hats- from gear fixer, organizer, camp staff, to quality control. The Operations Specialist is responsible for responding to unexpected events at camp and working to solve them. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Operations Supervisor to learn best practices and to ensure all camps are receiving the support needed. 
  • Maintain Avid4's bike fleet. The ideal candidate knows how to perform basic bike repairs.
  • Lead the logistical flow of training equipment from training to camps.
  • Assist with camp move in at our California camp locations. Ensure all gear is present, organized, and suitable for use at camp.
  • Management of vans and trailers: ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting when problems arise; in no way does this mean knowledge of any vehicle and/or trailer maintenance, but the organization and ability to ensure that all fleet needs are accomplished in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all gear is clean and in good working order at all camps. Make repairs or retire equipment when necessary. 
  • Support Camp Directors when issues arise with gear or vehicles.
  • Solve problems in a quick and efficient manner; avoid negatively affecting program quality at all costs.
  • Be a physical presence at each camp location to support camp- to deliver materials,  fix gear, etc.
  • This position will require use of your personal vehicle to travel to camp or program locations. Mileage will be reimbursed based on the current Avid4 Adventure mileage policy. 
  • Assist with pack in at the end of the summer. Organize all gear, inventory materials and fix broken items.
  • Assist with end of season gear sales. 

Position Hours & Dates:

  • The Operations Specialist is required to attend all of staff training if they are new to Avid. 
  • Position dates - May 11th, end August 21st, optional to have 1 week off in July, if requested.
  • The Operations Specialist is required to attend new staff training (5/30-6/7) if they are a new staff member. 

Job Requirements:

  • 2 years of relevant experience in the camping or adventure sports industry
  • Must be 23+ years old
  • Experience with Bike maintenance is required.
  • Comfortable with Google's G-suite platform for email, spreadsheets, and documents.
  • Experience in one or all of our core sports- climbing, biking & paddling.
  • Current driver's license. For California license holders, must obtain a Commercial Drivers License. We will help support you with this with various resources and financial compensation.
  • Medical certification of Basic First Aid and CPR from a nationally recognized provider.

Compensation: This is a full-time seasonal position. Pay will be an hourly rate depending on experience. Pay will be $19-19.50/hour.
