Avid4 Adventure is seeking an Operations Specialist to support our Overnight Camp programing. This position is based out of our Boulder County warehouse with 0-2 trips per week to the resident camps in Bailey and Evergreen, CO.  The OC OS will report to the Operations Supervisor but will also receive direction in the Summer months from the Expedition Camp Director.

The ideal candidate is incredibly flexible, self-directed, organized and possesses great problem-solving skills. The OC Ops Specialist will work closely with the Operations team to solve a wide variety of problems as well as aiding in the delivery of the highest quality of program possible. We often refer to this position as a 'firefighter' because they are responsible for responding to unexpected events at camps. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Organizing, sorting & preparing food for Colorado Expedition programs. Please note that some of our meals/ingredients do include nuts and dairy.
  • Executing pack-out for training week.
  • Executing pack-out for overnight camps.
  • Ensure all gear is present, organized; prep the site for the first day of camp.
  • Assist in warehouse tasks as directed by the Operations Leadership team.
  • Work closely with Operations Supervisor pre & post-summer season
  • Expedition & resident camp equipment maintenance.  Your primary job is to ensure that this equipment is being taken care of. Bring it to the attention of those that can get it fixed.
  • Check-in with the directors of Windy Peak & Mt. Evans regularly to ensure equipment needs are being met.
  • This position will require the use of your personal vehicle to travel to camp or program locations. Mileage will be reimbursed based on the current Avid4 Adventure mileage policy. 
  • Assist with pack-in at the end of the summer. Organize all gear, inventory materials and fix broken items.
  • Assist with end of season gear sales. 

Position Hours & Dates:

Overnight Camp/Expeditions Operations Specialist is required to work from May 1st through August 30th. Typical work hours will be 40 hours/week.  Operations Specialists are required to attend day 1 of Camp Director Training in Colorado on 4/24/20.

Hourly work starting 12/15/2019 - 4/30/2020 (roughly 25-30 hours/week) is available, if interested. 

Job Requirements:

  • Must love food & ingredients
  • 2 years of relevant experience in the camping or adventure sports industry
  • Minimum age: 21+ years old
  • Experience working at Avid4 Adventure for 1+ years. Experience at Overnight Camps/Expeditions is a plus. 
  • The Operations Specialist is required to attend all of staff training if they are a new staff member. 
  • Medical certification of Wilderness First Aid and CPR from a nationally recognized provider.
  • All staff must submit to background checks, including criminal, driving, sex-related and child-abuse offenses, before they are hired and annually thereafter. Staff must be free from previous felony convictions or patterns of concerning violations.
  • Field staff, directors, and managers must have a driving record free from Driving Under the Influence or Driving While Intoxicated violations, or any pattern of moving violations. Staff must have successfully completed either an external (i.e., government) driving training or Avid4's Vehicle Orientation & Driver Training in order to transport Avid4 participants. Each staff member is responsible for providing a copy of their current license upon hire.

Compensation: This is a full-time seasonal position. Pay will be an hourly rate paid weekly, depending on experience.
