Avid4 Adventure is seeking a Camper Inclusion Specialist to serve our Day Camps in Summer 2020. As the Avid4 Adventure Camper Inclusion Specialist, you will join a team who all share the belief that participation in the outdoors has the power to transform kids' lives.  Our summer camps empower pre-K- 12th graders with the skills and confidence to paddle, bike, hike, climb and thrive in the outdoors. 

The Camper Inclusion Specialist is responsible for helping to support families of campers who have special needs or who need extra support while at camp. The Camper Inclusion Specialist will act as a contact for the parents of these campers, referred to them by the Customer Experience team. The Camper Inclusion Specialist will work closely with Regional Managers to develop a Support Plan for these campers. The Camper Inclusion Specialist will also communicate with Camp Instructors to help execute the Support Plan, and act as a consultant during the summer season as needed.

The Camper Inclusion Specialist role is a summer seasonal position, with hours ranging from 5-20 hours/week depending on needs. 

Core Responsibilities: 


  • Work with Day Camps team to create and lead a segment at Staff Training
  • Work with Day Camps team to create and lead a continuing education segment for Camp Leadership and Day Camp Instructors. 

Parent Communication

  • Communicate with parents of campers with special needs, referred from our Customer Experience Team to discuss accommodations and/or support for campers
  • Maintain documentation of campers' needs and any support or accommodations to be provided at camp.

Liaison between families and Camp Staff

  • Work with Regional Manager to develop Support Plans for campers identified as having special needs or requiring accommodation/support.
  • Communicate with Instructors to share details of Support Plans 


  • Phone consultation and training for Camp Leadership and Instructors as needed on a case by case basis.
  • Consultation for various issues that may require social, emotional or behavioral support.
  • Availability via cell phone for urgent consultation if possible.

Hours & Dates:

  • May through Mid-August. 
  • Typical schedule: 5-20 hours per week as needed; schedule is very flexible 

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in special education, school counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience writing and/or supporting IEPs, or arranging accommodations in a school or camp environment.
  • Basic familiarity with Avid 4 Adventure's core sports (hiking, biking, climbing, paddling), and/or familiarity with Avid 4 Adventure programs
  • Experience leading youth and a passion for working with kids. 

Compensation: Starting at $20 per hour, depending on experience.
