Avid4 Adventure is seeking Camp Directors for our new camp locations in 2020. A Camp Director in one of our new markets has the opportunity to play a part in creating a camp from the ground up. This is a hybrid role: full-time Camp Directing during the summer and part-time hourly work through the offseason.

The ideal candidate for the Camp Director in New Markets has a passion for camp and getting kids outside, is excited to spread the word about Avid4 Adventure, thinks creatively, and leans into unknown challenges where you must have high levels of tolerance for adversity and uncertainty.

For 2020 - we have 3 positions available: Bend, OR; Seattle, WA; Minneapolis, MN

 

Core Responsibilities October - May: 

You will support marketing efforts through part-time hourly work. 

  • Research ad placement options for your camp location.
  • Research and connect with local journalists and bloggers.
  • Research and attend local grassroots marketing events such as camp fairs, business tabling, school and community events. 
  • Networking with community members, parents, PTO leadership, school administrators, businesses, and prospective staff.
  • There will be an opportunity for additional hourly work to scout recreation locations, write up reports and other camp preparation needs as assigned. 

Hours & Dates October - May:

  • This position can expect 10 hours a week from September through April. (However, hours might be flexible).
  • There will be evening and weekend work to attend events such as camp fairs or school functions.  
  • Hours will increase in May with staff training and camp preparation. 

Core Responsibilities May-August: 

During the summer, you will manage all aspects of camp operations. 

  • Manage a professional staff (ages 19+), create a great work environment and provide opportunities for growth. Strive for Avid4 Adventure to be the best job someone has ever had. 
  • Address the needs of parents and the overall customer experience. Follow up on feedback and make things right for customers as needed. 
  • Oversee program quality and safety. Manage risks and educate others to mitigate risk.
  • Manage all aspects of the equipment and logistics of your camp. 
  • Inspire kids to choose an active, outdoor lifestyle. 

Hours & Dates June-August:  

  • Typical Camp Director schedule:
    • Monday- Friday approximately 7:00am- 4:30pm. 
    • Must be reachable during evenings for immediate needs
  • Camp dates vary based on location but may start as early as 6/1/20 and end as late as 8/14/2020.  You will have the chance to indicate your location preference.
  • Camp Directors are required to attend Camp Leadership Training - 4/24, 4/25, 4/26 (3 days, 2 overnights) in Winter Park, CO. 

Job Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 25 Years old.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Wilderness First Responder (WFR is paid back by Avid over a two-year period) & CPR (can obtain post-hire, prior to the start of camp).
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Experience leading youth and a passion for working with kids. 
  • The Camp Director must be living in the new camp location by January 2020. 
  • We are seeking individuals desiring a minimum of a 2-year commitment.

Compensation: Hourly DOE plus travel stipend once you have relocated to the new state.
