Avid4 Adventure empowers kids to choose an active, outdoor lifestyle. As the Backpacking/Outdoor Education Supervisor, you will be responsible for the overall management of all on-site and off-site trips, as well as the physical operation of the tripping program and related equipment. The Backpacking/Outdoor Education Supervisor will mentor campers in the appropriate progression of skills and Leave No Trace principles related to their expedition, as well as help campers develop confidence and foster teamwork. This role will report to the Assistant Camp Director.

The Top Responsibilities for the Expedition Supervisor:

I. Trip Planning and Preparation

  • Responsible for all trip logistics including preparation of group gear and food.
  • Point of contact for all trips in the field through the use of a Garmin InReach Explorer.
  • Communication to permit agencies, pre/post trips.
  • Inventory expedition gear weekly and repair gear as needed.

II. Implement Backcountry Curriculum

  • Implement a pre-trip backcountry curriculum for a day class including an LNT Awareness Workshop.
  • Utilize teen campers in the teaching of backcountry class.
  • Assess the skill levels of each camper and staff prior to each offsite excursion.

III. Program Team Support

  • Provide support to program team with dining hall themes, evening events, clubs, etc. as needed.
  • Provide supervision of campers as needed.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned by the camp director.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Driver's License, Wilderness First Responder (WFR), and CPR minimum certifications.
  • Previous experience as a wilderness guide and trip planning.
  • Experience leading youth and a passion for working with kids.
  • Ability to handle high-stress environments and handle variety of tasks.


  • Pre-Season Training: June 5-15
  • Camp Dates: June 16- July 30 (Windy Peak); June 16-August 11 (Mt. Evans)
