Avid4 Adventure is looking for a team of Events Staff to help run numerous events during the spring, summer, and fall with our portable elements: a mobile climbing wall, a portable tank for kayaking, and a mountain bike skills course. This position is responsible for engaging kids in new outdoor activities, connecting quickly with children and parents, representing Avid4 Adventure's mission and organization to the community, and maintaining a safety-oriented environment. Just as important, this job is about inspiring children in new outdoor pursuits and having fun!

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide instruction for specific event element: climbing wall, kayak tank, or mountain bike skills course.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to parents and all participants in our programs.
  • Serve as a role model for children in appropriate behavior, language, attitudes, and activities.
  • Provide guidance, supervision, safety and comfort for participants during all activities.
  • Drive Avid 4 vehicles with essential event equipment when needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment, and report any damages to Events Director.
  • Event Staff are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the program location however often times shuttle arrangements can be made.
  • Typically these events are at locations along the Front Range. For out of town events, Avid4 provides transportation, lodging and food.  
  • Other duties as requested by the Events Director.   

Training Dates:  

  • Specific training for events will take place in early May.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Enthusiasm for the outdoors and the desire to be outside for full day periods.
  • Passion for working with kids and inspiring them through outdoor sports.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation to each event.
  • High levels of organization, communication, and judgment.

Typical Physical Demands & Working Environment:

  • Course set-up, facilitation and take down is physically demanding requiring lifting and moving of heavy elements, setting up industrial type elements (such as portable climbing walls) that have large moving parts.
  • Work takes place in outdoor environments in variable, sometimes extreme weather conditions.

Work Hours & Dates:  

  • This is a flexible part-time work opportunity to start part time in the spring with the chance to grow to 30-40 hours per week during our busy months of June-August. Part time work will also be available in the fall. You will have the chance to pick your own schedule based on event bookings and a minimum number of events worked.  
  • Hours depend on specific event. Events are a minimum of 2 hours but can be up to 12 hour days in some cases.
  • Event Dates are dependant upon event bookings. Times and days of the week will vary. You can plan for work on most weekends through the Summer as well as the occasional weekday/night event. Scheduling will be further explained in the interview process.

 

 

Job Locations:  

  • A majority of the work happens in Boulder, Denver, and other areas around the Front Range. All event days will originate from Boulder at the Avid4 warehouse. You will have the option to carpool from Boulder or meet at the event site.
  • Events include such festivals as the Vail GoPro Games, the Denver People's Fair, Rhythm on the River, etc.
