Avid4 Adventure runs numerous events during the spring, summer, and fall with our portable elements: a mobile climbing wall, a portable tank for kayaking, and a mountain bike skills course. These include such festivals as the Teva Games, Boulder Creek Festival, GoPro Games, Rhythm on the River, etc. This position is responsible for engaging kids in new outdoor activities, connecting quickly with children and parents, representing Avid4 Adventure's mission and organization to the community, and maintaining a safety-oriented environment. Just as important, this job is about inspiring children in new outdoor pursuits and having fun! If you are interested only in part-time (mostly weekend) work, then you would be eligible to join our Events staff.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide age and developmentally- appropriate instruction related to specific event element: climbing wall, kayak tank, or mountain bike skills course.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to parents and all participants in our programs.
  • Serve as a role model for children in appropriate behavior, language, attitudes, and activities.
  • Provide guidance, supervision, safety and comfort for participants during all activities.
  • Thoroughly understand emergency action plans and help implement procedures if necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment, and report any damages to Events Director.
  • Event Staff are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the program location.
  • Typically these events are at locations along the Front Range. For out of town events, Avid4 provides transportation, lodging and food.
  • Other duties as requested by the Events Director.


Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Experience in at least 1 of the following sports: climbing, biking, kayaking, canoeing.
  • Experience leading youth and a passion for working with kids.
  • Minimum of Community First Aid prior to start date. Certification must be delivered by a nationally recognized organization
  • Basic CPR Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association prior to start date (CANNOT be a 100% online course)
  • Valid Driver's License and access to transportation to each event.
  • High levels of organization, communication, and judgment. 


Typical Physical Demands & Working Environment:

  • Course set-up, facilitation and take down is physically demanding requiring lifting and moving of heavy elements, setting up industrial type elements (such as portable climbing walls) that have large moving parts.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Work takes place in outdoor environments in variable, sometimes extreme, weather conditions.


Hours & Dates: 

  • Hours depend on specific event.
  • Event Dates: Events start up in April and run through the early Fall.  Potential Event Staff need to be available for at least 75% of the events (mainly weekend work).
  • Event locations vary, but are mainly in the Front Range of Colorado. Some events might require out of state travel.
