Avid4 Adventure is hiring 2 Logistics Coordinators.  The positions will be based in the Bay Area, California to support our day camp operations throughout the area.  One position will serve the South Bay region and one will support the North/East Bay region.  The position is responsible for gear, vans and trailers and for the ongoing management of equipment. 

The ideal candidate is incredibly flexible, self-directed, organized and possesses great problem solving skills. The Logistics Coordinator will work closely with the Operations Manager to solve a wide variety of problems as well as aiding in the delivery the highest quality of program possible. This position will wear a multitude of hats- from gear fixer and organizer, camp staff to quality control. We often refer to this position as a 'firefighter' because they are responsible for responding the unexpected events at camp and solving them. Travel between multiple camps throughout the day should be expected. 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Operations Manager to learn best practices and to ensure all camps are receiving the support needed.
  • Assist with camp pack out and move in at your region's camp locations. Ensure all gear is present, organized; prep the site for the first day of camp.
  • Management of vans and trailers: ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting when problems arise; in no way does this mean knowledge of any vehicle and/or trailer maintenance, but the organization and ability to ensure that all fleet needs are accomplished in a timely manner.
  • Bike building and repairs; again, great if the knowledge exists, but willingness to learn is also acceptable.
  • Ensure all gear is clean and in good working order at all camps. Make repairs or retire equipment when necessary.
  • Assist with inventorying of gear and camp supplies as needed.
  • Support Camp Directors when issues arise with gear or vehicles.
  • Solve problems in a quick and efficient manner; avoid negatively effecting program quality at all costs.
  • Be a physical presence at each camp location to support camp- to deliver materials, support a shuttle, fix gear, etc.
  • Serve as a substitute instructor as needed.
  • Must have a willingness to drive long distances with regularity.
  • Assist with pack in at the end of the summer. Organize all gear, inventory materials and fix broken items.
  • Assist with end of season gear sales.

Position Hours & Dates:

  • Late May 2018 (exact start date depends on availability & training needs) - August 31st, 2017. There is a possibility of other hourly work before and after the above dates.
  • Logistic Coordinators are required to attend day 1 of Camp Director Training  - exact date still TBD.
  • Daily start and end time vary based on the needs of the region. Some days more tasks are required in the earlier part of the day or later in the afternoon. 

Job Requirements:

  • 2 years of relevant experience in the camping or adventure sports industry
  • 23+ years old
  • Personal experience in our core sports- climbing, biking &/or paddling
  • Valid driver's license. For California, must be willing to obtain CDL (Avid will pay the costs associated with the certification)
  • Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR certifications must be obtained prior to staff training in June 2018.

Compensation: This is a full-time, seasonal position. Pay will be a weekly rate depending on experience.
