Avid4 Adventure empowers kids to choose an active, outdoor lifestyle. The Kitchen Assistant will support the Head Chef and Assistant Cooks in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of three healthy and fresh meals to residential campers and staff. The Kitchen Assistant needs only a team spirit and the desire to spend the summer working in a supportive and fun camp environment. This role will report to the Head Chef.

The Responsibilities of the Kitchen Assistant:

I. Safety and Cleanliness

  • Dining area and kitchen clean up including proper washing, sterilization of all dishes, and food preparation surfaces.
  • Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
  • Assist Head Chef in maintaining clean, attractive, safe, functional food service equipment and facilities that meet or exceed American Camping Association (ACA) standards, State Health Codes and Avid4 Adventure policies and standards.

II. Stellar Experience

  • Assist with preparation and presentation of food and service as directed.
  • Serve as a role model for campers in appropriate behavior, language, attitudes, and activities.
  • Prepare and serve delicious, nutritious meals for all campers and staff.
  • Work with Leadership Team to manage and provide for different programs, including expeditions, continental breakfasts, and cookie raids.
  • Work with the Director of Dining Services on orders and needs to maintain top-quality program.
  • Engagement with the campers and staff and be part of the camp experience.

III. Operations Support

  • Assist in preparing food served using established production procedures and systems.
  • Demonstrate proper food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Help unload kitchen supply truck and put supplies away.
  • Other duties as requested by the Head Chef or Camp Director.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Basic CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Previous experience working in food service preferred.
  • Ability to handle high-stress environments and handle variety of tasks.

Pre-Season Training: June 6-16
Camp Dates: June 17- July 29 (Windy Peak); June 17-August 12 (Mt. Evans)
