The Head Chef will be the leader of the dining service operation at each camp, managing the operation of the kitchen for safety, quality, and staff satisfaction. This role will work with the Assistant Director to make sure that all aspects of our food service is top notch and dynamic to the feedback from the season. This role will report to the Director of Dining Services.

The 3 Bottom Lines for the Head Chef:

I. Safety First

  • Oversee safety & risk management of kitchen operation to maintain an efficient, clean kitchen.
  • Manage all dietary restrictions so that all campers and staff have plenty to eat with variety.
  • Work with Director of Dining Services to keep kitchen in compliance with state regulations and be the representative of the operation during any inspections.

II. Stellar Experience

  • Prepare and serve delicious, nutritious meals for all campers and staff.
  • Work with Leadership Team to manage and provide for different programs, including expeditions, continental breakfasts, and cookie raids.
  • Work with the Director of Dining Services on orders and needs to maintain top-quality program.
  • Engagement with the campers and staff and be part of the camp experience.

III. Passionate Staff

  • Manage and lead dining services team for team cohesion, commitment, and enjoyment within jobs.
  • Observe staff performance, conduct evaluations, and provide feedback to team and to Assistant Director and Director of Dining Services.
    Oversee the staff schedule to make sure there is fair coverage for the summer season.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • ServSafe Certified
  • Bachelor's preferred
  • Basic CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience running a kitchen; camp dining experience is preferred.
  • Experience in managing staff, schedules, and providing constructive feedback.
  • High levels of organization, communication, and judgment.
  • Ability to handle high-stress environments and handle variety of tasks.

Pre-Season Training: June 6-16
Camp Dates: June 17- July 29 (Windy Peak); June 17-August 12 (Mt. Evans)
