The Assistant Director is the second-in- command for the camp operation and directly oversees the operations components, including medical, facilities, and food service. The Assistant Director will step into the Director role if the Camp Director is not present, ensuring quality and safety in the day-to- day operations and supplying support to the other Managers. This role will report to the Camp Director.

The 3 Bottom Lines for the Assistant Director:

I. Safety First

  • Oversee safety & risk management for medical, facilities and food service operations.
  • Work with Leadership Team and staff to ensure safety protocols are followed in day-to- day operation.
  • Aid in resolving high level concerns brought from the Leadership Team and parents to ensure safety and quality
    experience of all campers.

II. Stellar Programs

  • Work directly with our outsource providers to make sure they have all paperwork, kids behaved appropriately, and
    program agreement guidelines are kept.
  • Daily observation of program and staff to ensure quality control.
  • Work with medical, facilities, and food service team to plan and prepare to operate efficiently and exceed the
    boundaries of excellence.

III. Passionate Staff

  • Practice servant leadership: treat our staff as good as our customers.
  • Observe staff performance, conduct evaluations, and provide feedback.
  • Organize & lead staff meetings.
  • Provide professional development opportunities.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 21+ years of age
  • Bachelor's degree in science, education, or related field preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License, Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR
  • 2-4 years of Camp or Program Administration experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in a summer camp setting is preferred, with experience in at least 1 of the following: climbing, biking, kayaking, canoeing, or backpacking.
  • Experience leading youth and a passion for working with kids.
  • Strong sense of organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle high-stress environments and handle variety of tasks.


  • Pre-Season Training: Leadership Training - April 27-29; All Staff Training - June 6-16, 2018
  • Camp Dates: June 17- July 29 (Windy Peak); June 17-August 12 (Mt. Evans)
