At Avid4 Adventure, you have the amazing responsibility of inspiring kids to lead active outdoor lifestyles. The Aftercare Supervisor is responsible for engaging campers in on-site age-appropriate activities after the camp day has ended. This is a part-time position and typical hours are from 2:30-6:00pm, M-F.  The Aftercare Supervisor may choose to use Avid4 Adventure curriculum or provide their own.  Aftercare Supervisors will be given a budget to purchase all materials for their program. This position is responsible for supervising campers, leading age-appropriate, after camp activities, providing snack, supporting campers' comfort, confidence, and creativity with new endeavors, and maintaining a safety-oriented environment. Instructors will also be communicating with parents when they arrive for pick up. Activities will all take place at the specific camp location. Aftercare Supervisors will have the opportunity to participate in Avid4 Adventure's full staff training including training in climbing, biking, hiking, and paddling, though all after care activities will be on site and not adventure-sport focused.  Aftercare Supervisors who complete the full training will be given the opportunity to substitute at day camp.

As an Avid staff member, you will become part of a team of outdoor professionals who receive support and mentorship from our camp leaders, grow their teaching skills, and enjoy a community of peers who live the values our camps teach.  

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide age and developmentally- appropriate instruction.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to parents and all participants in our programs.
  • Serve as a role model for campers in appropriate behavior, language, attitudes, and activities.
  • Provide guidance, supervision, safety and comfort for participants during all activities.
  • Thoroughly understand emergency action plans and help implement procedures if necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of equipment, and report any damages to Camp Director.
  • Maintain excellent communication between campers, parents, and staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings and program meetings.
  • Take an active role in the continual evaluation of campers, programs, and staff.
  • Adhere to all of the policies and procedures of the American Camp Association.
  • Other duties as requested by the Camp Director.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. 
  • Experience leading youth and have a passion for working with kids.
  • Two certifications:
    • Community/Basic First Aid. Avid4 Adventure does not cover the cost of this certification.
    • Basic CPR Certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association prior to camp start date (CANNOT be a 100% online course). Avid4 Adventure does not pay for the time or cost of this certification. 
  • High levels of organization, communication, and judgment.

 

Mandatory Training Dates:

  • Training begins in late May (exact training dates still TBD). During training, you are paid a training wage,  which is the minimum wage in the geographic location in which the training occurs.

 

Typical work schedule: 2:30 pm -6:00 pm Monday through Friday.  There are also often opportunities to sub or help during the camp day, if desired.

 

Compensation: $13.50/hour

  • After reviewing your online application, you will either be notified by email if we decide not to move forward, or we will schedule an in-person, group interview (or an individual interview via Skype if you live outside of the area). Group interviews are approximately an hour long. Individual Skype interviews are approximately 30-45min.
  • Our team will do a thorough reference check with no less than 3 references.  Two of these references must be with previous employers.
  • Applicants given a job offer must also successfully complete the following:
    1. Background checks
    2. Employee paperwork submitted within 2 weeks of being offered employment.
